Poll Results for type of workplace bully

Remember that poll we posted about 6-weeks ago, asking you what type of workplace bully you’re dealing with at work? Well, the results are in.
The ONE question poll had 6 possible answers, which were;
- Controlling
- Passive-aggressive
- Takes credit for my work
- Nobody’s ever right except them
- Nice to me in person, but bad-mouths me when I’m not around
- All of the above
50% of you listed ‘all of the above’ as your response.
The reality is that it’s often not just one action a bully takes to
maintain power. Chances are, if you’re consistently feeling horrible
around a specific person at work, regardless of what you say or do, you
could be dealing with a bully.
This marks the end of our workplace bully blog series. Have you been able to resolve issues that were previously swept under the carpet? We’d love to get your feedback.

Hi Renee,
I have been looking around for information on how to deal with problematic co-workers. I am employed at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have been there for almost 18 years. Eighteen years TO LONG!! I am afraid. Over the years I have seen many changes in management and employees as well as corporate structure. Shoppers is NO stranger to workplace bullying. My dilemma is as follows. A new Front Store Manager was appointed after the last one was fired for being incompetent about 4 months ago. She picks favourites and the rest of us are left to drown in the rubble. She has chosen a 22 year old brown noser who jumps at her every whim as a supervisor for night shifts and some days as well. The new supervisor takes great pride in bossing long time employees around because she is a “SUPERVISOR”. I had the displeasure of having to work with this twerp just recently on a night shift. I am 56 years old and I am having a difficult time not choking the crap out of the child. She is on such a power trip because she is a supervisor now, due to kissing the managers ass. Her promotion was not deserved. I am constantly left for dead in regards to any advancement because I am not a member of the favourite team and I am not alone.
It is a “HORRIBLE” place to work. My age is a huge issue for leaving that job. Why do I have to put up with this brat? No one will listen because the new manager calls the shots. The new manager even made her own daughter that works there a supervisor. How about that?
Nothing in that store is fare… Or ever will be…
Any suggestions?
